Job Description

Position Summary:

The Designer is responsible for creating, designing and executing visual elements for short content videos, info-graphic explainers, ad-sales or sponsorship integrations and some static or moving visual graphic material for The Weather Group including The Weather Channel network and its platforms. A mix of mainly 2D and some 3D elements along with a strong sense of graphic design principles will be employed to create compelling executions. Preference for individuals with a curious personality, extreme attention to detail, self-starters and critical design thinkers who can act with limited direction and creative oversight, but produce beyond expectations that leverage a broad art, design and visual culture knowledge background.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

May develop the look and feel of an assigned project, or execute elements following a pre-existing design.
Collaborate with the design staff, marketing, producers and sales teams to translate verbal concepts into visual expression.
Successful forming design concepts or visual directions with limited creative or art direction.
Utilize a strong understanding of best practices for graphics creation for social platforms.
Will be called upon to create graphic elements for, but not limited to, social media, live TV, original programming, promotion and ad sales and sponsorship, visual effects, and digital, including IMR.
Acute problem solving and an applied strategic design approach is critical in a fast-paced production environment.
Work quickly but at the highest caliber to consistently deliver best-in-class executions.

Education, Experience, Certification Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Design or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience across a wide range of applied graphic art applications and crafts/mediums.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (primary focus: After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop) Knowledge of C4D, Adobe Premier, Unreal Engine a plus.
Ability to create typography-based logos and text treatments including font treatments and ligatures.
Ability to take concepts and translate them into strong design executions.
Possesses a highly-developed typographic sensibility.
Able to work with a team & follow creative direction.
Takes initiative and can work with little or no direction if needed.
Able to multi-task and prioritize a variety of projects at once.
Is adept at time management, is nimble and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Is adaptable and comfortable in a changing environment.
Has an eye and passion for detail.
Has strong organizational skills.
Possesses excellent communication skills including documentation and client/customer service.
