We started a new newsroom in one of the best places to live in the United States (thanks U.S. News & World Report!) WDKY-FOX 56 News in Lexington, Kentucky, is looking for an Associate Producer for our four-hour morning newscast who enjoys being part of a team that is focused on our viewers. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to get inside a newsroom that supports learning and growth.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Helps in writing and video editing of broadcast content
- Contributes to the editorial process and make solid decisions in breaking news situations
- Execute strategies that engage and grow audiences across all devices that appeals to target audiences
- Research production topics using the internet, video archives and other information sources
Requirements & Skills:
- Studying Communications, TV/film or equivalent experience may substitute
- Understand brand building directives
- Interact well with video journalists, anchors, videographers, news managers, production, digital and engineering staff
- Detail oriented
- Excellent verbal, written, grammar and analytical skills
- Ability to develop strong news judgment
- Possess journalistic integrity and understanding of viewer needs and expectations
- Knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods, including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media
- Ability to meet quality standards for service & evaluate customer satisfaction
- Other duties assigned
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The Associate Producer must be able to sit, reach, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. The Associate Producer must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment or items weighing up to 25 pounds.
