We're looking for a full-time Talent Booker in LA to support a pop culture/entertainment news operation based out of Los Angeles.
Reporting into the Sr Executive Producer and Executive Producers, as well as working closely with our Producers and Production teams, this role will be responsible for booking in-studio and remote guests for programming based in New York/Los Angeles. Must be comfortable working across all media; on air, digital, and social media.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Research and book timely guests for both daytime/evening programming formats, red carpet, and awards shows based out of Los Angeles, with remote capability in NY
- Pursue breaking news guests as news warrants
- Pitch guest ideas and proactively seek out guests to appear
- Coordinate logistics for guest arrivals and assist guests to the set for their appearance in conjunction with the producing teams where available
- Establish and maintain relationships with media relations and public relations contacts in the industry
- Attend shoots, red carpet, awards shows, and production events as needed
- Communicate directly with Producers before show to ensure segment and producers’ expectations are in line with guest’s expectations
- Provide research packets, when necessary, to producing teams and help gather elements
- Flexibility in role within the team and within the company, including working across multiple formats and departments as needed
- Contribute towards building the brand identity
- Strong communicator who can pitch ideas to the team and stakeholders, take and deliver feedback constructively, and cultivate a team environment of communication and accountability
- Offer a range of creative paths, where appropriate, as part of the creative development process
- Creatively ambitious, willing to take risks and have fun
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role within a television broadcast, news station, network or creative agency environment
- Candidates must have existing relationships with contacts in the entertainment industry
- Must be a current contractor with Access to apply
Desired Characteristics:
- A passion for television in general and entertainment news
- Awareness of trends, viral videos, and breaking news across all social media platforms
- An understanding of current trends in the industry, social media, OTT, etc.
- Knowledge of network launch, sweeps, and award shows strategy preferred
- Self-motivated with ability to prioritize and multitask a wide range of responsibilities
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines within a prescribed budget
- Good interpersonal skills, both in contributing to the creative team as well as in representing the organization to outside parties
