Job Description
As a Video Editor at CNN, you will be required to edit all content and elements for CNN’s Amanpour shows for International and for Domestic. You will understand the different demands required to edit both effectively and creatively to deliver the Amanpour edit to CNNI and to PBS.
This person will be a key element of a three-person Video Edit team within CNN London’s Amanpour show teams, collaborating with Christiane Amanpour and all the producers on the creative and editorial direction of the show, as well as advising on aspects of shooting and post-production techniques that will enhance the end product.
Amanpour content will include Interview blocks, VOs, packages through to complete shows construction, and post-production for both live and taped programmes as well as evergreen shows, using software such as Adobe Premier and Adobe After Effects.
Your Role Accountabilities...
This person will be a key element of a three-person Video Edit team within CNN London’s Amanpour show teams, collaborating with Christiane Amanpour and all the producers on the creative and editorial direction of the show, as well as advising on aspects of shooting and post-production techniques that will enhance the end product.

Your Role Accountabilities...
- High quality and time-efficient video editing to create quality stories that meets the high standards for broadcast on CNN International and the Amanpour shows generating revenue for the company.
- Editing of the PBS version of the Amanpour show.
- Training of additional editors brought on board to assist of the responsibilities and editing procedures required for the Amanpour shows edit and delivery.
- Keeping up to date a how-to manual on editing for the shows.
- Take responsibility for the housekeeping of the Amanpour shows.
- Making sure project media and graphics kits are easily accessible to team members.
- Enable media to be efficiently shared across multiple locations.
- Collaborate with producers, Control room and Graphics personnel on a creative and editorial ‘vision’ at the pre-production stage to streamline and enhance the Amanpour shows.
- Determining a specific look and feel required to ensure high quality on the Amanpour shows.
- Work on a variety of projects - from multiple edits, testing and troubleshooting of workflows, software and equipment, to pro-actively building collaborative working practices with the Amanpour editorial, engineering and newsgathering partners.
Qualifications and Experience...
- Deep technical knowledge of all Mac OS and Adobe Premiere Pro is essential.
- Knowledge of Adobe After Effects
- Thorough understanding of media management, show archiving and distribution.
- Able to adapt to the broadcast workflows upon which CNN News programmes are produced.
- An ability to organize and media manage the department’s multiple media projects.
- Confident and capable of providing feedback to senior management team on editing or workflow issues.
- Adapts well to change and is iterative and flexible with priorities, for example during breaking news.
- Willing to travel from time-to-time to work out of normal hours to cover the Amanpour edit needs.
