Job Description

  • This position will also produce digital content for pbsnc.org that will feed the email strategy and support the station's promotional priorities. 
  • The individual in this role will lead the production, management, and reporting for PBSNC's email marketing campaigns which includes content development, design and deployment for regular content emails, engagement and fundraising campaigns and ongoing marketing automation. 
  • This role will manage a comprehensive cross-departmental email communications calendar in order to support the promotional priorities of the organization. 
  • As the principal owner of the PBSNC email platform, this role will require strong knowledge of email marketing best practices along with the ability to compile and analyze email performance data and make recommendations for improvement to stakeholders based on the outcomes, ideate and implement A/B testing to identify opportunities for optimization, lead email segmentation efforts to ensure we are collecting the data needed to send the most relevant content possible, and make data-driven decisions about the email strategy, such as email frequency, creative direction, subject lines, etc. 
  • This role will work closely with departments across the organization to understand business priorities and execute an email strategy that meets those needs. 
  • Success in this role requires close collaboration with content creators, copyeditors, graphic designers, and campaign managers to deliver engaging and effective email campaigns. 
  • Given that email campaigns serve as a window into PBSNC and interface with our audience, potential donors and corporate partners, attention to detail and quality of work is essential along with strong project management, planning and tracking to ensure updates are timely.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

  • Ability to communicate complex program information with substantial impact to targeted audiences; ability to plan and convey messages that enhance and promote the mission and objectives of the organization. 
Consulting/Advising: 
  • Ability to craft effective communications; ability to convey desired communication with sensitivity and urgency; 
  • ability to coach senior administrators or leaders in key departments in techniques to effectively deliver messages. 
Project Management: 
  • Ability to independently manage project timelines, resources, staff and leads implementation efforts in all communications areas. 
  • Ability to use a strategic approach to manage complex projects. 
  • Ability to apply a thorough knowledge of a wide variety of complex and non-standard processes and design techniques.

  • Ability to direct, develop and implement communications strategies to obtain desired objectives; 
  • ability to intervene and re-direct communication efforts that are ineffective
Salary range: $62,329 to $76,179
