Description:
The Digital Matte Painter / Environment Artist creates photorealistic paintings that are used as an element to either embellish or replace live-action footage. Develop textures for CG models and comp assets. We are looking for someone with an excellent eye for detail as well as a broad artistic vision.

The Digital Matte Painter / Environment Artist creates photorealistic paintings that are used as an element to either embellish or replace live-action footage. Develop textures for CG models and comp assets. We are looking for someone with an excellent eye for detail as well as a broad artistic vision.
Responsibilities:
- To work closely with Supervisor to produce painting and elements that match the concept
- To provide or acquire photographic reference materials
- 2D and 3D paintings for digital environments including:
- Camera Setup
- Modelling for Projection
- Camera Animation
- Projection Setup
- Image Re-Projection
- Atmospherics and Light Passes
- To work in partnership with shader developers, lighters, and compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of advanced matte painting techniques including colour space, digital paint techniques and Photoshop file management
- Deep understanding of the fundamentals of visual arts : composition, perspective, value, colour, form, texture.
- Ability to create your own assets (modelling - texturing - shading)
- Excellent knowledge of photography : from camera focal lengths to lighting
- Strong time management in relation to deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in feature films creating photorealistic environments
- Degree in Art, industrial design, or painting preferred
- Knowledge of Photoshop must
- Understanding of compositing software desired – Maya, Nuke
- Vue and Deep Paint knowledge a plus
This role can be based remotely, but there will be occasions when you will be required to visit the offices, either in London, Manchester or Denmark
