Job Description
Reporting to the International Managing Editor, CNN Business, the Europe Editor will execute on our mission to tell essential and engaging stories about the upheaval in the global economy and markets, and about the companies, personalities and technology driving the future of business.
The Daily
The Daily
- Lead the CNN Business team in Europe. Act as the main point of contact at CNN Business for other CNN desks and teams in the EMEA region.
- Conceptualise, create, develop and edit content focused on driving engagement with people around the world.
- Be the lead editor for CNN Business in Europe, finding great news and feature stories on our mission, setting coverage priorities, commissioning, editing and publishing content. Write regularly on the top global stories.
- Ensure our storytelling is accurate and fair and puts the audience first, from the choice of headline to the use of imagery, data, video and other elements.
- Work closely with CNN correspondents around the region and editors in London and elsewhere to stay aligned on newsgathering and longer-range planning.
- Interact with direct reports and peers across CNN Business and in other departments to share information and improve processes.
The Essentials
- Proven experience working on a leading digital publication
- Excellent writing and editing skills - style, language, accuracy, organisation, balance.
- Ability to produce quality work quickly.
- Experience leading small teams and working across department & borders.
- Flexibility - ability to adapt during breaking news.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and generate story ideas.
- Passionate about business news.
- Good understanding of regional and global trends.
- Perfect grasp of written and spoken English and able to represent CNN Digital internally and externally.
- Demonstrate the ability and passion to manage a diverse and inclusive team inside a global news organisation.
