Job Description
The selected candidate will oversee the stacking of editorial content, selecting expert guests, copyediting, greenlighting pitches and final script/package approval. The Executive Producer will also be responsible for reacting to breaking news. The ideal candidate must be creative, editorially mature and possess a superior knowledge and understanding of national and international news and the domestic audience. This role reports directly to Director, Programs.
What you'll do:
- Communicates the creative and editorial vision and guides the producers in construction of the shows in I-News
- Proposes new program concepts and provides compelling and upscale storytelling
- Serves as point person for decision-making as stories develop and makes well-researched judgment calls on information that needs to be reported
- Approves and enhances the rundown and meets regularly with teams to post-mortem
- Actively leads in daily editorial meetings, deciding the news stories of interest to our viewers
- Leads the post-production process to ensure the highest quality of presentation
- Implements network plans and sets the tone for teams on daily direction of the network
- This role reports directly to Director, Programs
- Communicates effectively with anchors, assignment editors, segment producers, writers, reporters, associate producers, video editors, videographers and managers regarding story development, show production and breaking news
What you'll bring:
- 10+ years of editorial experience plus 4+ years in a leadership/showrunning role at either a major market, cable, or network
- Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or related field or equivalent work experience
- Proven experience managing on-air talent
- Able to travel
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems, prioritize decisions, and successfully manage multiple assignments concurrently in a high-pressure news environment
- Knowledge of I-News
- Experience in editorial, operational, and managerial strategy
- Must have experience in programming for a social and digital audience
Eligibility Requirements:
- Willingness to travel with short notice and on weekends and holidays
- Willingness to work flexible hours including overnights, weekends, holidays and/or last-minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 news operation
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
