Job Description

Classes with current openings this fall include: FVM 103 Pre-Production I, FVM 105 Video Production I, FVM 200 Video Production II, FVM 270 Video Production III. Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
  • Promote student success through engaging instruction, accessibility, and rigor.
  • Embrace an Inclusive Excellence framework in pedagogy. This includes the ability to meet the needs of individual students, cover inclusive topics, and incorporate diverse sources into the curriculum.
  • Uphold the values of the college.
  • Provide differential instruction with high expectations and support for students of varied preparedness levels.
  • Before the first class meeting, according to published deadlines, provide the department with a copy of the course syllabus.
  • At the first class meeting, provide students with a syllabus for the course that includes all required components.
  • Evaluate student performance in accordance with student learning outcomes as stated in the course syllabus.
  • Conduct student evaluations of instruction in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and grading of students in the college learning management system—Desire2Learn (D2L)—and submit required records according to published instructions and deadlines.
  • Attend program/departmental/division/instruction-wide meetings as called by the Program Lead, Department Chair, Dean, or Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  • Participate in instructional professional development activities as required; adjunct instructors must complete a departmental orientation during their first year. 
  • Participate in all departmental and college-wide assessment practices.
  • Abide by all relevant CCA, CCCS, and SBCCOE policies and procedures.
Minimum qualifications & Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Associate’s degree in Video Production or in a related content area.
  • 2,000 hours of Industry Experience in video production.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in story development.
  • Proficient in using and teaching basic video, audio and lighting production technique
  • Proficient in teaching essentials of pre-production and basic production management 
  • Willingness to learn about and incorporate the Inclusive Excellence framework into pedagogy.
  • Maintains a student-centered approach with an asset-mindset.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to teach courses in-person at the Lowry campus.
Available to teach FVM 103 on Tuesdays/Thursdays 1:30-3:30pm, and/or 3:45-5:35pm, and/or FVM 105 on Tuesdays/Thursdays 9-10:50am, and/or FVM 200* on Tuesdays/Thursdays 9am-12:40pm and/or 1:30-5:10pm, and/or FVM 270 on Wednesdays 9am-12:40pm
*FVM 200 runs from August 24-Oct 12. All other classes run between Aug 23-Dec 9.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • MFA in Film
  • College level teaching experience with video production classes
  • Experience teaching in a community college setting
  • Knowledge and understanding of Inclusive Excellence
Supplemental information
Salary:  Instructional hours will be paid at the current Instructor rate of $3607.58 per course (three-credit hours per course). Site training and coordination will be paid on a contract basis.
 
Position Specifics: Positions are available for the fall 2021 semester.  These positions are part-time.  There are no insurance benefits offered with these positions.  However, other benefits associated with this type of position include educational benefits, a pension plan through the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association and eligibility to contribute to supplemental retirement plans.
