Job Description

The ideal person will possess extensive experience with beauty makeup, special effects, wig applications, and hair styling within the film industry but also have a strong sense for fashion particularly to film. This individual will work closely with our Casting Team, Directors, and Production Crew to ensure consistency throughout each script while keeping stylistic elements of cinema, such as lighting in mind. Ultimately, this individual will have a strong portfolio of work on various skin tones, textures, hairstyles, extensive special effects, prosthetic applications, and a creative eye that is always staying on top of the latest beauty trends and techniques. We create videos based on realistic scenarios so all looks must be relatable and believable. 

HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME:
  • Reviewing scripts with the Pre-Production Team and Directors to ensure needed looks are communicated
  • Creating unique makeup looks for multiple talent, including hair styles, and applying prosthetics as needed 
  • Determining the correct colors, tones, textures and application according to lighting and location of each scene 
  • Applying makeup in a professional manner ensuring health and safety rules are followed 
  • Fitting wigs and hairpieces while working quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Cleaning applicators/tools and aiding in any removal of makeup, hair, and or prosthetics
  • Creating lookbooks for makeup applications and wardrobe styling 
  • Offering wardrobe selections for each shoot based on script needs and fashion styles that pertain to the age demographics portrayed  
  • Maintaining wardrobe areas within our studio in a clean and neat fashion
WHAT YOU HAVE:
  • A minimum of 3+ years working within the film industry as a Makeup Artist, Hairstylist, and Special Effects Artist; a sense for fashion a plus! 
  • A portfolio demonstrating various makeup looks, hair styles, and special effects 
  • Strong understanding of lighting, videography, and photography 
  • Superior attention to detail with a creative and artistic mindset 
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication and time management skills 
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to meet tight deadlines 
  • Flexible work schedule that may include nights and weekends
WHO OVERSEES YOU:
The Makeup/Hair Associate will report directly to the Wardrobe/Makeup/Hair Manager

WHO YOU OVERSEE:
Currently, the Makeup/Hair Associate has no personnel reporting directly to him or her

WHERE IT ALL GOES DOWN:
All the action takes place at our BRAND NEW studio in Burbank, CA

WHEN THE MAGIC HAPPENS:

This is a full-time role that will be dependent on various production shoots a week, schedule flexibility will be discussed during the interview
