Job Summary/Description:

KFVS-TV has an immediate opening for a Producer. We're a #1 station looking for a digitally minded, enterprising producer who wants the best stories for the number one newscast. Candidate must be a creative writer with a curious mind. A writer with big ideals but pays attention to the details. The successful candidate will be a strong journalist, great communicator and a positive team leader inside and outside of the newsroom. They will fully embrace the digital space and be a champion of social media.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

*Prioritize, organize, and produce newscasts according to station brand and goals
* Ability to write clearly, concisely and very conversationally
* Must maintain working knowledge of current events, community issues, and extensive list of local contacts
* Accurate video editing with an eye for visual elements and graphics that makes stories understandable to the viewer
* Responsible for developing original story ideas for daily newscasts
* Act as a leader in facilitating teamwork of staff members working on your specific newscast
* Able to accurately and calmly handle decision-making process, especially in the control room
* Must possess excellent communication and organizational abilities, including working with newsroom management to ensure story accuracy and presentation.
* Responsible for creating a unique approach to all digital elements for the newscast, including: Facebook, Twitter, OTT, website, etc.
* Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evening, weekends, and holidays as needed
* Make regular beat checks
* Work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
* Performs other incidental and related duties as assigned and attention to detail is required
* Become proficient adding breaking news and other stories to KFVS12.com and social media pages plus sending out breaking news alerts
*Strong verbal and written communication skills including excellent news writing and visual story-telling ability
*Ability to make ethical journalism decisions
* Familiarity with digital video cameras, non-linear editing, and social media platforms
* Ability to lift 35-40 lbs. of gear

Qualifications:

* 2 years of experience as a producing experience
* Degree in Journalism/Communications or equivalent background
* Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts
* Willingness to travel, work overtime, and on weekends with short notice (if applicable)
* Candidate must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and MVR check
* Must be able to provide a reel/portfolio of work examples
* Knowledge and understanding of various media platforms, including broadcast, web and mobile
* Demonstrated ability of good news judgment and journalistic integrity
Ability to write, edit, produce and gather content under heavy deadline pressure without compromising accuracy or credibility
* Ability to handle legal concerns pertaining to newscast content.
* Ability to develop content through social media and independent sources.
* Ability to interpret information to establish facts and determine truth.
* Basic understanding of Windows-based electronics and the ability to learn ENPS as well as new systems as they are implemented.
* Experience with news photojournalism and non-linear editing
* Act as a team player while displaying an ability to handle a variety of tasks, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, deadline driven, stressful environment.
