This role is in tune with the stories of the day and delivers quality, basic edits for CNN Newsource, CNNE, and CNN Sports. In this role, you will have opportunities to grow your career and be a member of a high performing team that delivers quality journalism for CNN Worldwide.
Your Role Accountabilities …
Your Role Accountabilities …
- Rotates to provide basic editing support for Newsource, CNNE and CNN Sports. This content is often repurposed and visible across other CNN platforms.
- Newsource - Collaborating with various Newsource teams to prioritize edit requests and exercise best editorial judgement practices.
- CNNE - you could also have the opportunity to edit daily content for CNNE If you are bilingual in Spanish.
- Sports - For the sports lovers, the Production Assistant role has a rotation with CNN Sports editing game highlights.
- Basic editing includes verifying aspect ratio, adjusting audio and video levels, removing dated references, and still montages.
- Completing metadata records using accurate sourcing information.
- Publish edited content that aligns with CNN editorial standards for distribution to CNN's domestic and global affiliates
- Gain sound editorial judgment in their daily responsibilities and participate in growth and development opportunities
Qualifications & Experience …
- Bachelor's degree in liberal arts such as journalism, English, political science or similar demonstrated on the job experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in news or video production.
- Ability to edit on non-linear platforms, including Adobe Premiere
- Understanding of file-based workflows
- Ability to work in a 24/7 breaking new environment and under deadline pressure.
- A strong curiosity for current and historic events
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Bi-lingual in another language is a plus
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a hybrid work environment including the use of applications like Slack, Microsoft Teams, Outlook and Zoom.
