Job Description

The ideal candidate is a driven professional who is looking to lead the daily operations of our social and video teams. The person in this role will help set and execute strategy related to creating original content for social and video platforms, as well as adapting content from other formats (i.e. from The Ringer’s podcast network and editorial website). The Social and Video Production Lead will be heavily involved in day-to-day production of all of this, working with the managers of the video team and social team, respectively, and reporting directly to the Head of Production. This person must be enthusiastic about The Ringer and the topics it covers as well as the potential and value of digital video and social platforms. 

What You'll Do
  • Coordinate day-to-day production of content for social and video platforms
  • Work with video and social teams to balance content strategy aimed at growing The Ringer’s following
  • Establish new processes as needed to create content that expands and builds on Ringer podcasts and written stories
  • Supervise, train, and lead reports by providing work direction, constructive performance coaching, mentorship, performance meetings, and on-going feedback
  • Collaborate with the ad sales team to find opportunities for sponsors and to implement sponsorships
  • With the Head of Production, develop a structured environment for creative work
  • Create development opportunities and individualized development plans for staff and training to enhance skills and cultivate growth
  • Participate in creative brainstorm meetings
  • Create a collaborative environment with multiple internal departments to effectively lead and communicate to the relevant collaborators
Who You Are
  • Bachelor’s Degree OR equivalent work experience
  • At least 10 years+ of experience in content development and production for
  • At least 6 years+ managing a team of direct reports, including focus on employee development
  • Experience with digital production and fluency in Adobe Premiere and Photoshop
  • Experience working directly with high profile talent and guests
  • A proven track record of producing high-quality content that draws on diverse perspectives
  • Excellent communication skills, written and spoken
  • A passion for and extensive understanding of The Ringer’s content
  • Working knowledge of sports, pop culture, and tech, including but not limited to current events and relevant historical context
  • Capacity to work and react quickly in a digital news environment, in which major developments occur at all hours of the day
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive under pressure, which may involve working evenings and weekends
