Job Description

Parents is looking for a smart, savvy and hard-working social media editor. They will be responsible for executing the social media strategy across all our social platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, but with opportunity to explore other platforms like TikTok and Clubhouse (as well as any that emerge in the future). This person will have extensive social media experience, with their finger on the pulse of any new social trends and a passion for experimenting with new audiences and platforms. They will work closely with the editorial team, as well as oversee a social media assistant and work closely with a social media producer.

This position is based in New York, NY and we are looking for candidates open to working out of this office. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Plan and execute Parents’ social media strategy on all social platforms, especially Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

  • Commission and syndicate editorial content with social traffic in mind

  • Explore new social media trends and platforms, ideate on new audience potential and traffic streams.

  • Watch, share and respond to traffic and engagement metrics from social platforms

  • Devise and execute on social media content for sponsored campaigns.  

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements 

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.

Experience:

Minimum two years writing for websites, magazines, newspapers, books, or directly related field.
Experience in and/or knowledge of social media, web publishing and marketing is a plus.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Exceptional writing, editing, and strong organizational skills.

Knowledge of social/interactive media is required.
Computer proficiency, including familiarity with CMS and publishing programs, editing, e-mail, and Internet programs, is essential.
Expertise or interest in the parenting beat.
