Summary

FX is seeking a Senior Designer of Visual Effects to support the team with high-end CG design and animation for FX Original Series and the FX Brand including conceptual launch teasers and promos, main title sequences, XR, motion design packaging and cross-platform design.

Job Description

This position will be responsible for conceiving and visualizing forward-thinking ideas that push the creative boundaries of a project.

Responsibilities:
  • Establish looks and/or follow set style direction; Review and implement feedback
  • Create high quality digital composites and visual effects; Composite shots from start to finish including roto, tracking, paint, animation, matte extractions and creation of elements
  • Collaborate and strategize with SVP and Creative Directors to develop concepts, design previs, and style frames and creative problem solve for a variety of content
  • Assist with optimizing tools and workflow to improve efficiency of production
  • Experiment with new programs and techniques
  • Support and guide artists
Basic Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in design and animation for VFX required and 2 years of experience as a lead CG artist, lighter, FX artist or compositor strongly preferred
  • Experience at a VFX company strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong mathematical skills and understanding of physics required
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Maya, C4D, and Nuke. Knowledge of Houdini, Redshift, and Unreal, a major plus
  • Must have thorough understanding of 3D modeling, animation, and motion design
  • Ability to work within a CG pipeline
  • An understanding of programming theory (python, vex, mel), a plus
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in VFX and XR
  • Must have ability to multitask, work effectively under changing priorities, heavy deadlines, and daily time constraints
  • Knowledge of multiple disciplinaries of post-production (editorial, motion design), a plus
Preferred Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, animation or related field highly preferred
