Summary

Cirque du Soleil: Reporting to the Artistic Director and under the supervision of the Head of Wardrobe, the Wardrobe Technician will play a key role in ensuring costume items are maintained, wigs, hats and all wardrobe items are in good condition and participate in preserving the original concepts.

Job Description

 
·            Maintaining and repairing costume items such as garments, hats, wigs, headpieces and shoes;
·            Fitting, pulling, refitting and altering stock costume items;
·            Assisting artists with hairstyling and make-up application;
·            Training of local staff on dressing, laundry and day-prep tracks;
·            Acting as a backstage dresser when necessary;
·            Responding quickly to potential emergency changes or repairs during the show;
·            In collaboration with head of wardrobe, anticipating needs for costume replenishments;
·            In collaboration with wardrobe team members, regular updating of costume inventory data;
·            In collaboration with Stage Management and Technical teams, participating in all tasks related to the set-up and tear-down of the artistic areas;
·            In collaboration with wardrobe team members, organizing backstage areas including dressing rooms dispatch, quick-change areas, laundry room and wardrobe department;
·            In collaboration with wardrobe team members, participating in updating show specific documentation such as dressing tracks, laundry bible, costume bible and costume plot;
·            Preparing and participating in promotional events and taking part in media interviews as requested;
 
YOUR UNIQUE EXPERTISE 
 
·             Costume production or fashion design diploma with five years' relevant experience on large-scale productions;
·             Relevant experience in at least three of the following specialties: Tailoring, Millinery, Wig-making, Hair-styling, Make-up, Props, Cobbling, Dressing;
·             Knowledge of domestic and industrial sewing machines as well as hand-stitching;
·             Flexibility, autonomy, team player;
·             Ability to deal with artists face-to-face;
·             Ability to work well under pressure;
·             Ability to work on variable shift (days and evenings);
·             Knowledge of Microsoft applications in a Windows environment;
·             Fluency in spoken and written English is essential; any additional language spoken and/or written is an asset;
·             Available to tour full time and to work in foreign countries.
