CNN seeks a talented Writer (Temporary) to join the Ticker team in Atlanta, GA!
Your Role Accountabilities…
Your Role Accountabilities…
- Writes 5-7 line story blocks based on the day's news, news conferences, on-air interviews and other approved source material for the CNN U.S. Ticker. Ticker’s audience requires complete, balanced news blocks in short increments. Every word must count.
- Must be well-versed in the news of the day. Be fully read-in on prior news stories to ensure relevant, most compelling, and up-to date information is presented to the CNN Ticker audience. Determine a story's relevance and organize information accordingly. Must use reliable news judgment consistently.
- Communicate/collaborate with Ticker teammates, news gathering, fellow members of CNN Digital, and other news teams throughout CNN to gather content for the Ticker.
- Seek avenues to improve editorial and journalistic skills. This can range from offering alternative lines to use in story blocks to taking WBD-offered classes.
Your Qualifications & Experience…
- Concise written communication skills. Must have excellent grasp of language, knowing when to write straight news and identify opportunities to be creative
- Working knowledge of the CNN US newsroom, structure and systems - MediaSource, inews, viz Rt graphics system
- 3-5 years of writing experience in online, print or TV production.
- Ability to thrive in a challenging and dynamic news environment
- Demonstrated news knowledge and journalistic skills
- Organizational skills.
- Must be strong team player, eager and able to collaborate
- Spanish or other language skills
