Job Description
The Animation Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the animation team. In collaboration with the Animation Director and the production team. the Animation Supervisor is responsible for directing and maintaining the continuity of performance of all objects, digital characters or creatures.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and supervise animation across all projects, review animation at all stages, providing feedback to the animators, production team and clients as necessary.
- Ensure the team are producing high quality animation that fits within the style and pacing of each project and brief.
- Be a key creative part of Pitches and Animation Tests, helping us to win and secure the most ambitious, creative briefs out there.
- Be a senior creative voice within the company and department, advising on the best approach to deliver the best quality at all times.
- Nurture, develop and manage our Animation Team with the support of our other department heads.
- Partner with the Studio Animation Director and Recruiter to source and recruit the best Animation talent.
- Be hands on, animating on projects at a senior/lead level too, whilst supervising other projects.
- Support the animation team with technical and creative problems.
- Work with the rigging team to develop our animation rigs, and pipeline.
- Represent the company at Industry wide talks and forums.
- Ongoing communication with Production regarding the teams’ schedules and deadlines
Requirements:
- Minimum 5-7 years of work experience in 3D animation using MAYA in a series or film production;
- A strong background as a Lead in feature or series CG character animation;
- Have experience and an interest in cartoony style;
- Quadruped animation’s experience recommended;
- Comfortable with filming reference footage and using the reference footage;
- Ability to work within an established pipeline and learn to use custom tools;
- Ability to understand and interpret effectively a storyboard and the Director’s feedback and be able to give direction to a team;
- Have good teaching skills, be a mentor, and technically and artistically develop the team;
- Ability to work well in a team and excellent communication skills
