Job Description

Under the direction of the Lighting Engineer, the Associate Lighting Engineer supports the efforts of the Broadcast Lighting team to enhance and maintain all equipment and all technical aspects of QVC lighting systems. You will support and manage all lighting equipment and systems and monitor performance to ensure 24x7x365 availability.

Shift will be Wednesday through Saturday, 10am to 8pm.

Your Impact
  • Coordinate and perform preventive maintenance and equipment repair.
  • Identify and correct causes of equipment/system failures and communicate all issues to the Lighting Engineer.
  • Assist in the installation of new equipment or rewiring of existing equipment.
  • Coordinate or execute all rigging in the studio to the highest safety standards.
  • Recommend means of preventing equipment and system failures.
  • Utilize existing software to track costs and times associated with all repairs or preventative maintenance, and order lighting equipment repair parts.
  • Manage and track all QVC Broadcast Lighting equipment.
  • Use all necessary software to provide accurate reporting for equipment usage, maintenance, and repair costs.
  • Provide technical support for Live Production, and Integrated Productions Broadcasts
  • Maintain technical standards for equipment installation, system construction, and fixture maintenance.
  • Conform to standards and schedules for preventive maintenance practices.
  • Provide technical direction and low-level training in relevant repairs and set-up of equipment and systems to other members of the department and studio production team.
  • Update technical drawings/plots.
What You Bring
  • Degree in Lighting or Electronics, or equivalent combination of training and experience required.
  • 3 to 5 years of recent lighting experience in a television broadcast environment preferred.
  • CAD drawing experience is preferred. Vectorworks is a plus.
  • Must have system design experience, as well as experience trouble-shooting related systems.
  • Experience with installation/maintenance of systems that include both DMX and Ethernet controls.
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders and stand for long periods of time and work on elevated surfaces (i.e., lighting rafters, etc.).
  • Ability to differentiate between colors.
  • Ability to access and enter information quickly and accurately using and automated system.
  • Ability to lift items weighing approximately 50 lbs.
