Job Description
JOB PURPOSE: The Audio Engineer / A1 will prepare show audio requirements, operate equipment, and integrate audio sources to create a high quality mix. Prepare music and sound effects for air. Handle mic and IFB patching and routing and prepare talent mics and mix-minus for studio and remote locations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Mix multiple audio sources: studio and remote host/guest microphones, music and clips for fast paced live programs
- Prepare talent mics and mix-minus for studio and remote locations.
- Coordinate with the Director, Tech Manager, and studio floor Audio Assistant
- Maintain intercom system to provide production communications for local and remote locations
- Edit music and sound effects within a short turnaround to air
- Proficiency in pro-tools for post-show audio fixes
- Prepare audio operations technical infrastructure details for assigned shows
- Handle mic and IFB patching and routing for studio shows
- Responsible for compliance with all applicable company policies
- Rehearse and lead the audio plan for assigned shows and events
- Mix multiple audio sources: studio and remote microphones, music and sound effects

Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience using audio consoles and intercom systems.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a live news and/or sports production control room environment.
- Minimum 2 years prior experience mixing live shows is required (This is not a Post Production Audio position).
- Must be available for all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Expertise mixing audio for multiple program show formats and styles including news, talk shows, musical performances and special events
- Extensive experience with Calrec Audio Consoles
- Extensive experience with RTS Intercom systems and software
- Ability to think quickly, communicate well and keep pace with fast moving shows
- Strong client service and interpersonal skills and the ability to handle pressure in an on-air environment
- Knowledge of live news TV production processes
- Previous experience with INews newroom systems
- Advanced PC computer skills
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced, team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must be available for all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be willing to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice
- Must be willing to work in New York City.
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
- Must be 18 years or older
