Job Description

Based in our office in Madrid but will have company touchpoints far beyond that, particularly with the Los Angeles and London offices, the role aims at leading all the foreign language localization (dubbing, subtitling, graphics, and censorship) activity to service the Theatrical market of our US Titles, working alongside the team in London and our Home Office in LA.

As the creative dubbing manager, the goal is to preserve the original creative intent of our filmmakers throughout the language adaptations and localizations.

Supporting the Marketing and Local Releases team, responsibilities include managing multiple projects in different stages of production, reviewing production plans and budgets, providing early guidance for projects in the development phase, curating and supporting local production relationships, and supporting/suggesting best practices from pre-production through delivery.

People skills are key to build a solid team along with the Technical Assistant, driving strong relationships and collaboration with our teams and partners.

What you'll do:
Manage end to end theatrical dubbing process of all Spanish theatrical dubbed versions:
  • Manage all production functions for the dubbing office/studio ensuring all deliveries are made within deadline and budget;
  • Choose and book dubbing studio based on all relevant factors;
  • Assign and book creative team (director, writer, actors);
  • Liaise with London teams to determine schedule and version requirements;
  • Ensure dub is delivered to schedule and to all technical specifications;
  • Liaise with London team and writer to complete Insert Reports for localized graphics localization;
  • Manage end to end theatrical subtitling process:
    • Select Spanish subtitles translator;
    • Liaise with London to set up translator on subtitling system;
    • Liaise with subtitles translator to ensure translation is completed within timeline and to specifications within the relevant subtitle translation system.
  • Maintain communication with the vendors and internal departments to keep up to date with business developments and changes, and ensure processes are ready as needed.
  • Participate in regular production meetings to stay up to date of any operations needs and changes of the clients.
  • Monitor and manage all costs of the dubbing department to ensure that the projects are kept within budget.
  • Build strong, effective relations with the dubbing studios to ensure the highest quality of dubbing.
  • Manage and accompany one Technical Assistant.
What you have:
  • Application of design across various digital and social platforms, with some experience in motion design, visual effects, and graphic design.
  • Creative and technical skills in digital video editing.
  • Up to date with design and AI trends. A desire to continue learning to ensure an understanding of current production processes and a curiosity about how they could be improved.
  • Localization (dub, sub, graphics, and censorship) for Theatrical.
  • Post-production for picture and audio.
  • Picture and audio formats.
  • Qualification to degree (and preferably a master’s level) in a relevant subject.
  • Someone with passion for content, that has successful experiences in the entertainment or advertising industry.
  • Excel in teamwork and effectively collaborate with other creatives, agencies or production companies, with internal/external clients and vendors across different cultures and nationalities.
  • Deep ability to be discrete and maintain confidential information, with a solid understanding of prioritizing and responding accordingly.
  • Ability to multi-task various priorities and deadlines in a fast, paced, high pressure environment.
  • Flexible attitude to work, able to respond to urgent or important matters in a timely manner, adaptability and initiative are key.
  • Strong decision-making capacity with limited supervisor input.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Written & spoken fluently in Spanish & English in order to interact with other Sony Pictures’ departments throughout the organization.
