Job Description

WKYC-TV, the TEGNA NBC affiliate in Cleveland, OH is looking for a full-time Broadcast Director
The person filling this role is responsible for coding and executing newscasts and other local programs primarily using the Sony ELC automation system.

The Broadcast Director will work closely with our news, production and technical teams to produce fast-paced, compelling and comprehensive newscasts & programs.

We are looking for someone to bring forward-thinking production ideas, strong technical knowledge and the ability to manage quality control at a high level.

Responsibilities
  • Code and direct live newscasts and recorded programming using Sony ELC automation.
  • Oversee the overall look of newscasts and on-air programming, identifying and correcting potential problems before they hit the air.
  • Maintain studio operations and tidiness (i.e., lights, sets, etc.).
  • Occasional graphic creation for newscast elements.
  • Troubleshoot technical systems when required.
  • Check commercial logs for missing media.
  • Other broadcast production duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Experience with Sony production switchers, ELC automation, ENPS, BitCentral, and Chyron graphics systems is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and respond effectively to breaking news, severe weather or other unexpected events.
  • Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on working as a team with multiple departments.
  • 3+ years experience directing in a medium or major market.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, TV Production or related degree preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule is required.
  • Travel: Rarely: less than 10%.
  • Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment.
  • Physical Demands Set: Medium work: Involves sitting/standing prolonged hours, stooping, bending, climbing ladders, lifting/pushing up to 50 lbs.
