Job Description

The Assembly Mechanic is more than just a modern-day industrial mechanic. These are precision mechanics ready to refurbish or assemble a product for their client. Any given day the Assembly Mechanic might work to overhaul Peter Pans Flying Boat, or Spaceship Earth’s futuristic people mover. The field service position may include work from elevated platforms and confined spaces throughout the Walt Disney World Parks and Resort property.

The pay rate for this role in Florida is $27.35 per hour.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform work using precision tools and equipment.
  • Build or breakdown equipment or assemblies using components, tools, and prints.
  • Follow safety standards including Central Shops policies and rules.
  • Cast members may be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Additional Personal Protective Equipment (face shields, goggles, refillable hand sanitizers, etc.) may be required.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in the industrial mechanical field
  • Must pass knowledge assessment.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic assemblies and ability to work with those control systems.
  • Proficient with hydraulic press 20-ton, 150 ton and the use of overhead cranes
  • Ability to align shafts to couplings such as: ring fitter, taper lock, B lock and dodge coupler.
  • Experienced with precision tools, bearing and seal fittings.
  • Must understand torque values and the proper use of a torque wrench and other measuring equipment such as: micrometers, dial indicators and depth gauges.
  • Ability to work with low voltage electricity, 48 volts or less.
  • Must be able to identify hardware grade markings.
  • Experience using various types of Loctite and primers and know the proper usage of Never Seize compounds and their different applications.
  • The ability to read mechanical blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in standard office software programs and mobile electronic devices
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with animation troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experience working on heavy equipment or trucks.
