Job Description

The Commercial Videographer works with staff Producers, Directors, Editors and Sales Executives to produce original television commercials and promotions for KDKA-TV and WPCW’s advertising clients!

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Act as a Director of Photography/Camera Operator, Editor, and Sound Mixer
  • Support all studio and set productions with freelance and staff crews, and production equipment
  • Act as a liaison between freelance community, equipment rental/sales vendors, and KDKA-TV, WPCW-TV
  • Shoot and edit longer form segments for local content
  • Prepare equipment for next-day productions, and manage production gear that may need picked up and/or dropped off prior to and after productions
  • Retrieve all freelancer reports and submit to producer or director
  • Attend creative meetings between producers and clients
  • Scout locations prior to productions
  • Basic maintenance of all production equipment – cameras, mics, lights, etc
  • Maintain production van including inspections, general service, cleaning, fueling, weekly visual inspections and parking
  • Manage production expendables inventories and order expendables as needed using accurate PO and management clearances. This will include the purchase of tape stock, gels, diffusions, lamps, gaffer’s tape, black wrap, various studio grip supplies, camera/lens cleaning supplies etc.
  • Keep reports for all equipment sent out for repair
Additional Qualifications:
  • Basic working knowledge of the following: camera equipment, sound equipment and lighting/grip equipment; basic lighting with in-house lighting packages as well as rented inventory when needed; studio lighting controls and applications; steadicam, jib-arm/crane and dolly operation
  • Must work well with people and be a good communicator
  • Editing on Multi-Platform a plus (especially Final Cut X and Adobe Premiere Pro)
  • College degree preferred
