Job Description

The Coordinator, Creative Affairs will work closely within the Creative Affairs Development team to coordinate the development and production of films and television series. This role plays a critical role in ensuring the department runs smoothly while also handling submissions and helping with creative content. The Coordinator acts as a gatekeeper for the department, keeps a pulse on the team, and is organized, and detail-oriented while seeing the bigger picture.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage submissions, coordinate responses, and delegate reads internally
  • Read 15+ scripts per week and watch 5+ directing samples in search of commercial projects and talent to make films and TV series at a variety of levels
  • Prepare outgoing correspondence including emails and submission letters
  • Create pitch documents and presentations for internal or external purposes
  • Administrative duties for the department including setting meetings for the department head and development team as a group 
  • Manage important documents for each project and ensure appropriate departments are aware of any changes
  • Take notes in project meetings with writers, directors, and producers — follow up to make sure action items are issued and completed
  • Provide creative and practical notes on projects in various stages of development and production
  • Create preliminary lead cast lists and director lists for projects 
  • Meet and vet writers, directors, and for various projects
  • Effectively work across departments to ensure communication
  • Proactively seek out material, writers, and directors that are appropriate for MarVista
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • 3+ years of film industry experience
  • Intermediate experience in MS office (word, ppt, excel), Adobe Acrobat
  • Experienced in creating decks & one sheets that are visually appealing
  • Knowledge of the film industry landscape and players
  • Embodies the principles of gratitude, honesty, passion, collaboration, and entrepreneurship 
  • Passion for reading, Intermediate writing skill 
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate issues, and think ahead to potential conflicts that can arise with scheduling and/or projects and processes
  • Excellent time management, communication, and writing skills
  • Deadline-oriented, able to work independently when needed
  • Actively participates in the creative process, and understands the market and key players
NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Agency experience is
  • Experience in Final Draft, film editing, graphic design, screenwriting
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, Zoom, Slack, Rightsline
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $25.97-28.85 per hour for California.
