General Job Description:
- ABC57 in South Bend, Indiana, is seeking a Digital News Producer. This person is responsible for keeping our website and app up-to-date and comprehensive.
- Our digital news producer should be aggressive on breaking news and push alerts, have strong writing skills, a fundamental understanding a journalistic values and ethics, as well as a self-starter attitude.
- The Digital News Producer will be expected to write news articles from scratch, repurpose scripts from television into AP style, attach videos from our broadcast to the web, draft and send push alerts, and sometimes assist with social media posting.
- This person must be a good team player, and work in cohesion with our Digital Executive Producer and Social Media Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities: - Ensure our website/app mirrors our broadcasts.
- Keeping our website/app as current as possible.
- Push alerting breaking news, major developments, and pushes to our broadcasts.
- Draw more viewers to our digital platforms and on-air.
- Innovate ways to grow our audiences, specifically people 25-54.
- Own big events and big stories like Election Day, Special projects/sweeps stories, Notre Dame Football, and any other big news items.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
- Familiar with writing in AP Style.
- Proficient knowledge of social media platforms.
- Strong writing, keen editorial judgment and the ability to handle breaking news are a requirement.
- Must be able and willing to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and work independently.
- Must be able to work under tight deadlines and manage time well
