WBIR in Knoxville, TN is looking for a motivated, innovative digital storyteller to create impactful stories that live across platforms.
You’ll offer context to breaking news, dig for enterprise content, create and distribute engaging, compelling stories for TV, digital and social media.
Qualified candidates will have experience posting stories to digital-mobile-social platforms, working knowledge of online CMS software, video and photo-editing skills, and the ability to work a flexible schedule.
In these stories, you may appear on camera or create documentary-style content with no reporter track.
A passion for storytelling and being creative are a must.
•Produce audience first, engaging stories through digital articles, videos, photo galleries, social media, push alerts, live streams, and interactive elements
•Focus on accuracy and balance in articles and social content through copy editing
•Social listening: monitor social media and track trending stories via Taboola, CrowdTangle, Google Trends, and our social platforms
•Urgently and aggressively report news as it happens whether breaking or hyper-local events
•Generate web traffic through Tegna’s best practices, website management, app management, push notifications, and application of advanced social media skills.
•Work with all newsroom departments on content coverage, broadcast-digital coordination, and social listening.
•Previewing your digital content on TV
•Help the news department with VOSOTs, SOTs, as needed.
•Pitch stories during editorial meetings
•Partner with the newsroom in the creation of social content
•Ability to perform other digital duties as needed
•The ability to write with emotion and produce powerful stories on digital pieces and on TV
•Knowledge of all aspects of news production on multiple platforms. That means writing, shooting, and editing video for various formats.
•Experience being in front of the camera and creating digital content
•Readiness to push far beyond the conventional boundaries of local news
•A willingness to work hard, fire up the imagination and collaborate
•Experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok)
•Experience working in a newsroom environment and strong news judgment
•Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills
•Schedule flexibility (nights, weekends)
•Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud a plus
•Bilingual a plus
