WBIR, the TEGNA station in Knoxville and one of the most trusted local news brands in the country, is seeking a Digital Storyteller who has a passion for finding great content and distributing it to all platforms.
This is a multi skilled position. You must be able to shoot, edit, write, produce and turn daily pieces. You must be creative and offer a willingness to “push the envelope.”
You need superior news judgment and the ability to write, socialize, push and communicate that news in grammatically-solid, journalistically-sound, ethical and non-biased ways.
You need the ability to juggle multiple tasks and work a flexible schedule. The person we hire will want to win every day.
You must be a creative thinker who thrives on interacting with our audience and working in a team atmosphere.
You must be a self-starter who we can count on—to show up on time, be motivated and ready to roll with content ideas.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, publish and update content for WBIR digital and social platforms
• Shoot and edit original or repurposed video for all platforms
• Research, create and repurpose content including text, images, video and social media
• Develop original content through social listening and independent sources
• Participate in news editorial meetings and work with news staff to develop original digital content opportunities
• Manage the overall content on our website and social media platforms when needed
• Understand and achieve metrics goals using Chartbeat, CrowdTangle and Google Analytics
Job Requirements:
• Experience working as a digital producer or reporter preferred.
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage requests from various sources with an ability to work well with varied personalities within deadlines
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills
• Experience using DSLR or other photography / videography equipment
• Ability to work independently or multi-task confidently under tight deadlines
