Description

Develops and drives overall news strategy for the organization. Responsible for achieving organizational goals through content development in all media platforms: television, digital, social media and radio.

Job Duties:
  • Develops processes and workflows to achieve overall organizational objectives for Houston Public Media (HPM).
  • Integrates content from media producers across the organization to deliver maximum reach and value.
  • Monitors ratings, research and other metrics and adjusts strategy as needed for continuous improvement.
  • Oversees staff of reporters, producers, and content creators.
  • Develops strategies to best take advantage of changes in both media and digital landscape.
  • Creates an environment that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Champions best-in-class journalism and demonstrates a commitment to ethics
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to find innovative solutions and expand news reach across all media platforms.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors and 7 years experience.
  • Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.

Certification/Licensing: Requires technical certification or licensing directly related to the job, as specified on a job description addendum.

Salary: 7661.00 - 10,150.00
