Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Direct multi-camera live and live-to-tape studio based programs
- Ability to direct News, Talk, Sports and Special Event programs
- Requires a creative eye and the ability to plan and direct the audio and video aspects of television programs based on the specifications and knowledge of television programming techniques
- Interpret scripts, block cameras and work with cast, crew and producers
- Directing live shows without a script especially during breaking news stories
- Establish the pace of the program to stay within the time requirement
- Good working knowledge of video switchers and editing
- Lead the control room and studio technicians before and during any live or live-to-tape program to keep them informed of the show’s rundown, camera shots, effects, playback order and other specific commands
- Coordinate technical crew schedules
- Oversee the delivery and execution of all graphic and sponsorship playback elements
- Participation in all production, editorial and technical planning meetings
- Contribute ideas on how to improve all aspects of the production from creative to execution
- Perform on-site surveys for studio remote shows
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a Show Director in a live television production environment
- Experience in launching a broadcast or television program
- Proven knowledge and understanding of broadcast and production technology
- Possess strong storytelling skills and editorial judgment
