Job Description
Weigel Productions is looking for a Director of Photography for Field Production to film the variety television series, specials and short and long-form content that WP produces.
The DP of Field Production will be charged with directing and photographing all field related shoots for all of Weigel Productions. The DP will oversee all gear, and technical needs for field shoots and work with producers to plan and ensure success for the show. The DP will also help with handheld needs for studio shoots, and be tasked with helping plan larger field shoots, for different projects with Executive Producers. The DP will also be responsible for coordinating crew on larger shoots and ensuring shots have all resources needed at the time of production. Position reports to Head of Production.
The ideal candidate will be a creative, inventive and seasoned Director of Photography who can move from handheld studio work, to macro field work, and set-up a two camera interview with just one eye open. A successful candidate will live for lenses, lighting and magic hour and believe in collaboration and teamwork; work well independently but are a comfortable managing people and workflow and have terrific organizational skills. Candidates will be based in Chicago and will work with a large creative team of writers, directors, producers, graphic artists and photographers/editors who produce collaborative and varied content for broadcast.

Requirements:
- Ideal candidates will have strong attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
- Experience shooting with the Canon C300 cameras and its prime lenses preferred.
- Ability to record audio.
- Lighting experience required. Must be able to do full-set up, shoot and break down alone.
- Adobe Premiere editing software experience a plus
- Must have at least 5 years of experience as a DP in a professional environment.
- Must be able to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced creative environment.
- Must be open to the flexible schedule including occasional nights and weekends.
