I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

The Ecommerce Editor will join a central team of writers and editors that create and distribute ecommerce content across all Meredith editorial brands including People, Real Simple, InStyle, Health, Food & Wine and Travel + Leisure. This role requires someone who is passionate about and has experience creating shopping content in various product verticals, particularly fashion, beauty, home, food and wellness.

II. Essential Job Functions

Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

  • Edit commerce content coming in from the centralized ecommerce desk including freelance content
  • Identify and carry out commerce content opportunities within lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and more verticals
  • Use data and analytics to brainstorm and guide editorial decisions 
  • Collaborate with editors across the entire Meredith portfolio along with SEO and growth (social, newsletter) teams
  • Keep tabs on what’s going on in the industry, including competitor research, and suggest new content areas to lean into and existing areas to grow

  • Write commerce content
  • Attend weekly editorial meetings
  • Help plan key eCommerce initiatives such as Amazon Prime Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday
III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, or related field

Experience:

+ years experience as a writer and editor for an online publisher

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 Must haves:
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced and matrixed organization 
  • A strong writer and editor well versed in a variety of topics/product categories; experience editing commerce content is a plus
  • Familiar with the Meredith portfolio, and able to adapt to numerous brand voices and writing styles
  • Quick to recognize and act on ecommerce news or key content opportunities
  • Familiar with digital media tools such as CMS (WordPress, Drupal) and Google Analytics
  • Familiar with SEO best practices and SEM Rush
  • Comfortable analyzing data
