Job Description

MSNBC Digital is hiring an Editor/Producer to work with its editorial and show teams to identify and transform top broadcast moments and monologues into sharp standalone published text pieces. You will have a deep understanding of what drives conversations online. You will have excellent news judgment, strong writing skills, a keen understanding of journalistic standards and a passion for the MSNBC brand, its shows and its on-air hosts.

This is a Mon-Fri schedule. Position is based in New York City or Washington, D.C.

What you will do:
  • Work with our MSNBC show teams and producers to edit and mold dynamic monologue scripts.
  • Identify top MSNBC live “moments” every day and transform them into standalone text articles that can find new audiences in the digital space, and help our editorial team react quickly in breaking news situations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of relevant working experience
  • 3+ years writing in a digital newsroom environment, ideally with opinion journalism experience
  • Must be a news junkie who thrives in a fast-paced, competitive environment
  • Must be obsessed with finding creative ways to showcase perspectives online
  • Must have a clear understanding of the MSNBC brand, its audience and its hosts
Additional Job Requirements:
  • Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news.
Salary range: $93,000-110,000
