The producer will be responsible for producing episodes from concept to publication, as well as related content for platforms including CAFE’s newsletters and website.

WHO WE ARE
CAFE, part of the Vox Media Podcast Network, explores how law and justice intersect with every aspect of our society.  CAFE’s portfolio of shows includes the award-winning podcast Stay Tuned with Preet hosted by former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) and CAFE co-founder Preet Bharara. CAFE also offers a collection of exclusive podcasts, including the CAFE Insider podcast hosted by Preet Bharara and Joyce Vance, newsletters, events, and online content through its innovative CAFE Insider membership program.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Write deeply researched memos to prepare host(s) for interviews, and draft scripts for hosts.
  • Actively pitch guests and story ideas, book guests, and coordinate logistics for recordings
  • Oversee tapings and post-production, ensuring that episodes meet CAFE’s production and editorial standards.
  • Write copy for CAFE’s newsletters and social media channels. Generate creative ideas for marketing and promotion, both for specific episodes and the programs overall.
  • Propose ideas for and help produce limited series.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
WHO YOU ARE
The ideal candidate for this position has a legal, policy, or politics background and some media or journalism experience. New law school graduates, think tank fellows, and aides to high-profile individuals in the political arena are strongly encouraged to apply. So if you’re a campaign staffer, a speechwriter, a producer on a news program, a young lawyer no longer interested in practicing law, or have a similar professional background, we’re looking at you!
  • Outstanding news judgment and knowledge of current events
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills
  • Ability to explain complicated issues to a lay audience
  • Ability to meet time sensitive deadlines and work simultaneously on multiple projects
If you think you have what it takes, but don't meet every single point in our job posting, please apply with a cover letter to let us know how you believe you can bring your unique skills to the Vox Media team or get in touch! We would love to have a chat and see if you could be a great addition to our team. We’ve hired chefs who became editors, DJs who became UX designers, and sommeliers who became writers.

WHERE YOU’LL WORK
This job is hybrid.

WHAT COMES NEXT
Please submit a resume and a short cover letter explaining why you’re interested in this specific role and what makes you a good fit for the position.
