Job Description

The Executive Vice President of Production will provide senior leadership and strategic oversight to the team of physical production executives who oversee scripted series, pilots and specials for 20th Television.  They are responsible for delivering compelling programming for both the studio, network & platform partners.

Responsibilities :
  • Executive leadership and oversight of 20th Television productions and 20th studio long range plan - reporting to current Head of Production for Disney Entertainment Television - making executive production, financial and logistical recommendations in partnership with other key stakeholders.
  • Assessing team for strengths and weaknesses.
  • Helping to build new skills and strong leaders within the team; leading & mentoring large production staff
  • Finding efficiencies with process and relationships across the enterprise. 
  • Looking for partnering opportunities within and outside of Disney.
  • Advises on solutions to budgetary challenges while maintaining the creative integrity of each project.
  • Communicates effectively with Producers, Showrunners, talent, and talent agents in the execution of their duties as the Company’s representative on 20th Television produced pilots and series.
  • Keeps pulse on all aspects of production from production planning and schedules, to budgeting prior to producer selection, through series production and post-production.
  • Works with leadership team on the selection of line producers who will execute the Studio’s creative vision while maintaining budgetary parameters.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of ATL and BTL guild and union agreements, including the complexities and details of the agreements as they relate to New Media and Legacy delivery platforms, as well as awareness of each production’s needs so agreements are applied as advantageously as possible.
  • With leadership team, ensures compliance with all company policies and guidelines including but not limited to I-9 and harassment, conflict of interest issues, etc. as set forth by Creative, Legal, Labor, Finance, Minors, Management Audit
  • Approves final budgets and schedules at macro level prior to distributing to Studio, Productions, and network.
  • Works closely with SVPs to identify third party production companies for international co-productions in various international locations.
  • Stays current on all new and emerging Digital Production technologies.
  • Partners closely with Corporate Finance to create Long and Short-term budget and management plans
Basic Qualifications :
  • Experience managing the physical production of scripted series and/or specials either as a Producer/UPM/Production Supervisor or as a network/studio Production Executive.
  • Experience managing a team of high-level executives in a corporate structure. 
  • An understanding of, and participation in, corporate financial models and forecasts. 
  • An understanding of, and participation in, relevant union and guild rules, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage complex production budgets in a cost-effective manner.
  • Ability to physically produce programs on limited budgets without sacrificing quality or production values.
  • Hands-on experience working at or with a major studio or network.
  • A collaborative management style and a demonstrated ability to work with multiple constituents to get the job done.
  • Must live within a commutable distance to Los Angeles or be willing to relocate. The role requires time in the office.
  • Must be willing to travel to production locations domestically and internationally.
The hiring range for this position in California is $490,000 to $660,000 per year.
