Job Description

We are searching for a highly creative and skilled Gaffer that can aid in providing lighting for our short cinematic video productions. This individual will be key to our team in ensuring effective and high quality lighting, focused on the mood and tone of each scene. The ideal candidate not only has excellent working knowledge of all lighting equipment and gear, but is an exceptional communicator with strong problem solving skills. The Gaffer will be skilled at anticipating all lighting requirements, working collaboratively and creatively with the Director and Production Teams, and bringing life to each scene. This position often requires working long hours including nights and weekends. Since we are a mission-led company and all of the content we create inspires people, the right candidate will find the long hours to be exciting and highly satisfying!

HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME:
  • Prepping for shoots both at the studio and on location by retrieving all necessary lighting and electrical equipment
  • Setting up scene lighting upon arrival to each scheduled shoot; adjusting as needed in collaboration with the Director 
  • Operating and setting up all electrical equipment such as stinger’s, power bricks, and adapters
  • Overseeing all lighting and electrical equipment ensuring safety is a priority 
  • Building dolly tracks and controlling movement of the camera dolly
  • Setting up various camera rigs for car mounts
  • Breaking down sets once production is complete, including but not limited to-coiling cables, folding c-stands, putting away lights
  • Ensuring electricity is accessible to all departments
  • Driving the company van as needed
WHAT YOU HAVE:
  • 3+ Years of hands on experience working as a Gaffer within the film industry 
  • Thorough understanding of various types of lights and gear. Including but not limited to: c-stands, gells, diffusion, scrims, dolly tracks, and car mount rigs
  • Extensive experience building rigs for cameras
  • The ability to lift at least 30 to 50 lbs
  • Must have a clean driving record 
  • Must be able to contribute constructively during the production process
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Solution-oriented with the ability to creatively solve problems during shoots
