Job Description
GMA Digital is seeking a full-time News Editor to join our growing team.
The person in this role will be responsible for line editing text stories that are published on GoodMorningAmerica.com and ABCNews.com, working with reporters, senior editors, our newsgathering operation, and our legal and standards teams, among others.
Though a key part of the role is managing all aspects of text stories, and on occasion writing stories, the person in this role will also engage with the broadcast units and our Audience Development team.
The ideal candidate is someone who is a self-starter who does well under pressure and a thoughtful editor. A love for lifestyle content, features and human-interest pieces is a must!
The role is based in New York City, but open to candidates in Washington, DC or Los Angeles (working hours aligned with the team's Eastern Time schedule). The team is currently hybrid. Occasional early morning and evening shifts may be required.

Responsibilities:
- Copy edit GMA Digital text stories and videos (including headlines and captions)
- Collaborate with reporters, producers, editors, bookers and correspondents
- Contribute to special events or seasonal tentpole coverage, including news events, cross-department projects and GMA Shop initiatives
- Make editorial judgments on a minute-to-minute basis and liaison with our Legal and Standards departments
- Occasional writing to cover breaking news
- Develop new workflows that increase efficiency and engagement to help GMA Digital grow total digital audience
- Work with contributors filing stories from across the organization
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience editing for a digital news outlet
- Ability to write on deadline with speed and accuracy
- Proven experience handling breaking news
- Willingness and desire to collaborate across different teams
- Ability to balance priorities, multiple projects and tasks
- Brings energy and positivity to the group dynamic
- Experience collaborating with different teams
- Excellent communication skills
Required Education:
- BA or BS from a 4-year accredited college or university or equivalent experience
The hiring range for this position in New York, NY, Washington DC or Los Angeles, CA is $78,800 to $108,300 per year.
