Hybrid Producer's Assistant/Video Editor for theGrio

theGrio is seeking a Hybrid Producer's Assistant/Video Editor to join our team and contribute to the creation of engaging and informative videos. As a Hybrid Producer's Assistant/Video Editor, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality written content that aligns with theGrio's digital video strategy. 

Responsibilities: 

Video Production: 

● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize and script engaging video content 
● Execute video shoots, ensuring all aspects align with the creative vision 
● Direct talent, including on-screen hosts and interviewees, to capture authentic and compelling footage 
● Manage and coordinate all aspects of production, including equipment, locations, and logistics 

Video Editing: 

● Edit and assemble raw footage into polished, visually appealing videos that align with brand guidelines 
● Incorporate music, sound effects, and graphics to enhance the overall production value 
● Collaborate with the creative team to ensure consistency and alignment with the brand message 
● Optimize videos for various platforms and formats, ensuring maximum engagement 
● Manage and organize video files, maintaining an efficient workflow 

Education/Requirements: 

● BA in Film Production or a related field
● 5+ years of experience in video producing and editing, showcasing a diverse portfolio of past work with a focus on news & politics 
● Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve) 
● Strong storytelling skills and the ability to translate creative concepts into compelling high-quality visual content 
● Experience in all aspects of video production, including shooting, lighting, and audio recording 
● Familiarity with motion graphics, special effects, and color grading 
● Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment 
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment 
● Excellent communication skills to effectively convey creative ideas and collaborate with team members 
● Familiarity with Wordpress is preferred 
● Strong knowledge of current news, pop culture, music, and sports, with a keen understanding of Twitter trending topics, internet culture, and memes 
● Excellent organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under tight deadlines 
● Demonstrates a strong understanding of news and politics 
● Preferred candidates will reside in Washington, D.C.
