Job Description

The first-year students form the prep and set crew while the second-year students take on leadership roles as Costume Designers and Coordinators.

Please note the first five weeks follow our weekly timetable. Weeks 5-11 regular classes are suspended while Instructor and Lab Supervisor divide spending time with students on their film productions. Weekend work will occur during this time- period. Classes will resume at regularly scheduled time during week 12-13 followed by a two-week exam period.

Candidates require:
  • Working knowledge of Film and Theatre production organization and operations, and a solid understanding of the roles involved within a film costume department.
  • On and off film set experience, Experience with Stunts and Special Effects specialists.
  • Working knowledge of Head of Costume Positions in Film and Theatre including organizational and maintenance responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of Professional Development practices within the film industry, and Synch on Set.
  • Working knowledge in a range of Costume Crafts, Cutting and Construction, or Design is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Western and Non-Western Costume history.
  • Working on-set with students during the filming of their productions
  • Supervising wrap of the films produced
Responsibilities include participation in Capilano University and Departmental activities

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor of Arts degree. Master’s degree preferred
  • 10 years of Film Industry Experience
  • Proven ability to teach to adult learners
