Job Description

The Lead Compositor will work directly with the Compositing Supervisor while monitoring a team of Compositors. Ensure quality and technical excellence, while working closely with the Compositing Supervisor, VFX Supervisor and Art Directors to oversee all Compositing aspects of our Television and Feature projects.

Responsibilities:

-Seamlessly integrate 2D, 3D and live action elements with an eye for photorealism and a strong aesthetic sensibility.
-Solve creative and technical problems under tight deadlines and fast turnaround.
-Take direction from Compositing Supervisor and VFX Supervisors; execute compositing tasks based on that direction.
-Determine shot methodology for sequence work.
-Supervise junior employees; work within a collaborative team environment.
-Stay up to date with compositing software and trends.
-Keying; colour grading, tracking, paint, 3D render layer integration, look development, shot finaling.
-Collaborate with the Lighting Department to meet Compositing Department objectives
-Work closely with the VFX Supervisor, CG Supervisor and Producer to delegate the project’s Compositing needs to the team to ensure good continuity and internal communication with the production teams.
-Proficiency in Nuke and Shotgun

Qualifications:

-6+ years’ experience in a live-action VFX Environment.
-Expert understanding of the Nuke 3D environment and projection mapping.
-Extensive experience with multi pass 3D renders.
-Firm understanding of colour space and LUTs.
-Knowledge of Maya, Houdini, Mocha, PFTrack are a plus.
-A thorough understanding of both feature film and television VFX production pipelines.
-A strong eye for detail, composition, colour and lighting. An ability to make shots look great.
-Ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve in a fast paced environment
-A team player with excellent communication skills.
