Job Description

A+E’s Content Operations team is a community of collaborative production, technical, and media operations professionals. This position of lead tech, Content Readiness, is a unique role that melds Operations, Technical, Editorial and Production skillsets.  Our team is seeking an individual with those outlined proficiencies, as well as someone who embraces change and knowledge expansion. This individual will be responsible for ensuring content is ready for fulfilment, usually with quick turnaround times.   This person will apply their knowledge to ensure all elements of content are distribution ready. This readiness not only pertains to media essence, but metadata, formats, framerates, containers and codecs, standards and practice, audio description, and closed captioning.  

The Lead Technician, Content Readiness will be responsible for daily oversight of titles targeted for distribution to specific partners, with a mindful approach to timelines, operational resources, and overall readiness to ensure SLA’s and deadlines are met.  Based on readiness parameters, you will expertly navigate the specific needs of each project and collaborate with management to ensure best practices for optimal efficiency. Communicating remediation needs and timelines to key stakeholders will also be critical to this workflow, escalating issues and/or risk immediately where resolution extends expected due dates.

In this role, monitoring and advising of new industry standards, as well as new technical specifications will be a key strength. This role should be envisioned as a multi-platform, multi-media specialist. Your skills will be utilized to ensure standardization of assets and confirmation that they are ready for monetization and fulfillment to multiple digital, linear, and syndicated end points.

Advanced post-production experience is required, with a specialty in Adobe Premiere and Adobe Media Encoder; previous cloud-based VM editing a plus. From import, to closed captioning, to audio correction, you will be required to correct all aspects of a program’s essence in-edit. This role requires you to be part editor, part producer and part engineer is a bonus.  The lead tech will manipulate and deliver files in A+E’s new cloud-based editing platform and monitor its delivery status through the media supply chain.

MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU’LL DO: 
  • Proactively troubleshoot audio/video issues and apply industry knowledge to correct them and meet A+E’s high technical standards. 
  • Utilization of our internal systems for editing and delivery of content as well as updating related metadata. 
  • Participate in company efforts related to metadata governance and help identify changes to overall metadata structures that would improve distribution efforts.
  • Will work with various content management and tracking systems. Must adhere to A+E best practices regarding metadata capture, archive maintenance, and cataloguing of assets.
  • Independently initiate and maintain communication with other team members to ensure deliveries are made on time and to technical specifications. 
  • Maintain an appropriate remote workspace that allows for maximum attention and concentration on required content, along with a robust internet connection capable of downloading large files at fast speeds.

YOUR STORY: 

The ideal candidate is a creative-technical thinker and a proactive problem-solver. You are highly proficient in all aspects of audio/video production and fluent in technical specifications with an excellent understanding metadata uses, importance, and standards. An enthusiastic and inquisitive person with a passion and extensive knowledge of production, editorial, quality control, file formats, and distribution workflows.  
  • Minimum of 5 years media industry work experience with 5 years of technical editing and metadata experience strong preferred.
  • Strong quality control, editorial, producing, and editing experience. 
  • Detailed experience using Adobe Creative Cloud suite, including advanced knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Media Encoder and post-production workflows.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based storage and media workflows a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of audio and video codecs, formats, framerates, and standards conversions.
  • Knowledge of Closed Caption, subtitle files, forced narratives. 
  • Capability to troubleshoot and diagnose problematic files or formatting issues and communicate to team 
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, team building, and time-management skills. 
  • Ability to work remote with high speed internet capability.
Compensation: Annual Pay Range: $82,250 - $118,000
