Job Description

Are you looking to take your first LEAP into Lighting & Compositing in feature animation? Whether you’re a recent school  graduate, looking to transition into a new department or are self-taught, Cinesite is excited to offer an exclusive training program.

The LEAP program is designed to give a guided entry into a role as Junior Lighting & Compositing artist in our Feature Animation division. Over a 12-week period, you will learn the fundamental concepts of lighting and compositing learning from world-class talent. Once you complete the 12-week period, you will work alongside your new team on one of our current Feature Animation projects. 

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Develop your knowledge of key tools, techniques and software while working on a Feature Animation project
  • Learn how to use the lighting aspects of cinematography as a storytelling device
  • Learn the Cinesite Feature Animation production pipeline
  • Work on your Lighting & Compositing skills in a real production environment
  • Be immersed in the "behind the scenes" of a production
YOUR ROLE
  • Learn from experienced mentors to:
  • Apply the fundamental concepts of lighting characters and environments
  • Apply the fundamental concepts of compositing and image processing using Nuke
  • Set up and manage rendering individual layers and shots
  • Take artistic and technical direction from the artistic leadership of the Lighting & Compositing department as well as the Production Designer, VFX Supervisor and Director to produce high quality final imagery
  • Work closely with the Lighting & Compositing team to properly interpret and implement creative concepts and client specifications 
  • Learn to work with production to find solutions that meet creative needs
  • Learn to work within an established Feature Animation pipeline
  • Complete assigned tasks based on established quotas and the production calendar
  • Develop the ability to report and resolve delays or potential issues that may affect the artistic result and/or budget and schedule compliance.
  • Get the chance to take part of an artistic and professional team
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Demo reel and/or portfolio that showcases your talent, passion and creativity (even WIP) that may include lighting, compositing, painting and/or photography.
  • Basic understanding of composition, lighting, shading, colour and cinematography.
  • Familiarity with various 3D, compositing, and rendering software such as Katana, Gaffer, Nuke and Arnold is required.
  • Availability for full-time work, 40hrs per week
  • Ability to work and learn as part of a team to achieve production goals and troubleshoot issues
  • Commitment and motivation to build upon existing knowledge and learn new techniques
