Job Description

The 20th Century Studios Legal Affairs team is seeking a Legal Assistant to provide day-to-day administrative assistance to attorneys on the Legal Affairs/Motion Picture Productions team.  You would be integral to the group that is responsible for legal obligations associated with some of the biggest movies across the Company and the world, e.g., Avatar, Planet of the Apes, Alien, and Predator. 

This position is part of a department that includes assistants, paralegals, and attorneys.  Candidates should be prepared to collaborate, to multi-task, and to cover additional duties as needed.  We are looking for a detail-oriented, organized, collegial individual to join us. 

This role reports to the Director, Legal Affairs with additional support for a Counsel. 

What You Will Do
  • Maintain calendar and schedule meetings
  • Proofread, attach exhibits, manage and arrange for execution and distribution of agreements, including use of document management databases
  • Manage projects, including timely updates to status reports and follow-up as needed
  • Run a fast-paced, wide-ranging legal affairs desk
  • Answer calls and take detailed notes
  • Maintain electronic files and general office organization
  • Provide back-up to other assistants within the group, as well as assist with other department administrative support responsibilities
  • Assist with special projects as needed
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • PC knowledge - Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Strong proofreading and organizational skills
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks with accuracy
  • Effective communicator, both verbally and written
  • Professional representative of the Company internally and externally, always maintaining confidentiality in dealing with sensitive material
  • Positive attitude and the ability to be proactive, resourceful, and flexible
  • Strong people skills, with a focus on collaboration and working effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to take initiative and work with limited supervision
  • Able to work overtime on an "as-needed" basis
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 1-year administrative support experience assisting an entertainment attorney at an entertainment law firm or in-house legal department
  • Administrative support experience in any corporate environment
  • NetDocs or other document database experience a plus
Education
Preferred:  B.A. or B.S. degree preferred

The internal title for this position is Secretary V. 
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, California is $50,000.00 to $66,900.00 per year based on a 40-hour work week.
