The Live Programming Department Intern will be responsible for shadowing various departments within the live programming group to gain exposure to the process of television production.
The intern will work closely with producers, assignment desk editors and show teams to learn about their job functions and to contribute in the execution of some live programming functions. They will also spend a week shadowing other departments in the company to learn about the overall business.
A. Knowledge
- Journalism majors are preferred
- Some knowledge and interest in television production is preferred
B. Skills
- Must be able to organize work and prioritize independently
- Excellent communication skills including verbal, listening and written
- Ability to work well with others, under stressful situations
- Strong team interaction skills
- Proactive in taking the initiative to learn new things
- Strong work ethics
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Live Programming Department Intern will learn how to:
- Log video
- Produce segments from concept to completion
- Monitor feeds
- Write Stories
- Research stories
- Book interviews
- Shoot interviews with field photographers
- Coordinate segments for web and mobile platforms
- Contribute to Social Media posts
Education, Experience, Certification Requirements
- Undergrads - Enrolled in an undergrad program at an accredited college or university. 18 years or older and current sophomore standing, no more than a graduating senior by the start of the summer session
- Must be able to commit to 5 days on-site
- Must be US Citizen or on F1 visa
