Job Description

The Manager role will be responsible for leading a best-in-class COVID Co-Op team and will have responsibility for managing, scheduling, training and performance management duties of their direct reports while ensuring they are following the most current testing, contact tracing and return to the workplace policies /procedures.  The role will support Productions and USG staff across their portfolio, including but not limited to Universal City Productions (UCP), Universal Television (UTV), Universal Television Alternative Studios (UTAS), Syndications Studios, and Universal Studio Group Corporate.  

The COVID HR Manager role will ensure that proper staffing coverage is maintained seven days a week, 365 days a year, throughout multiple North American time zones.  They will also help to partner and share best practices with our Universal International Studios (UIS) teams as applicable.   In addition to managing their assigned co-op team, the role will also work closely with appropriate HR Business partners, medical, production leadership and EHS support teams to strategize and make recommendations.  Additional responsibilities may include assisting various HR partners with non-Covid related talent/employee relations and investigation efforts, as well as other project management initiatives.  This role may work remote/off-site, but some travel may be required to our various production and office hubs.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the team tasked with day-to-day COVID safety operations and return to work protocols that are under the USG HR Team purview
  • Make recommendations, develop and deploy/support protocols related to contact tracing process, testing results and Return to Work policies for a portfolio of assigned productions and corporate teams
  • Collect, organize, and manage confidential data in Microsoft Excel, Share Drive and case management systems
  • Prepare and publish weekly scheduling of team to ensure efficient use of resources, proper staffing levels and time off requests
  • Manage caseloads including, assigning, initiating and closing-out cases manually or via the case management system across assigned team
  • Serve as advisor on escalated cases
  • Recruit, interview and provide training to new team members
  • Communicate and provide guidance and coaching to crews on new developments related to return to workplace procedures
  • Provide people management/coaching and mentoring to all team members
  • Lead weekly team meetings and check-in's to promote transparency with team on issues/needs
  • Partner with USG HR, Heads of Production, divisional and corporate EHS/Medical teams and local government affairs to remain current on changes in local jurisdictional and company policies.
  • Develop relationships with Production teams to ensure clear communication and expectations are prioritized
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information
  • Partner with counterparts on other Co-Op teams across the business to share best practices and make recommendations
  • Respond quickly and diligently to pending cases to keep pace with the needs of production schedules.
  • Escalate system delays or sensitive cases to applicable Production, HR and EHS executives
  • Partner with HRB's to assist with general employee relations, investigations and project management tasks
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of related work experience
  • Experience handling sensitive, confidential employee information and/or working in HR
  • Prior supervisory experience of a remote based team a plus

  • Prior media/television industry experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and deductive reasoning to solve problems.
