Job Description
WBZ-TV and CBS News Boston is seeking a highly skilled, veteran journalist to join our team as Managing Editor. The successful candidate will be ethical, collaborative, and driven by a desire to inform and help our viewers.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Manage day to day content and daily story development.
- Work with reporters, producers, and assignment editors to develop stories that are comprehensive and engaging.
- Collaborate with reporters to improve copy and develop story-telling techniques.
- Work closely with assignment editors, producers, and executive producers to make sure newscasts reflect our communities and content strategy.
- Help drive breaking news coverage on all WBZ platforms.
- Plan special news, weather, sports events coverage.
- Manage the schedules for anchors and reporters.
- Lead strategic collaboration between WBZ and CBS News.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Certification Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a news manager in a large market
- Deep knowledge of Boston, and New England is strongly preferred.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Exceptional news judgement and writing skills
- Degree in journalism or communications is preferred
