Job Description

KITV, Inc., the ABC affiliate in Honolulu, HI is looking for full-time Good Morning Hawaii newscast producers. The news producer is a member of a team responsible for creating 3-and-a-half hours of newscasts from top to bottom and managing them throughout the morning. The producers will work closely with photographers, editors, news managers, reporters, MMJs and other staff to build a relevant and compelling product using all available resources.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Create a morning news show that is compelling and meets the objective and strategy of the news department.
  • The producers will research and write news stories for the newscasts. 
  • Create graphics and work with reporters and photographers on stories and live reports for the newscast. Participate in daily editorial meetings.  
  • Assist with other news projects as assigned. 
Qualifications Requirements:
  • Strong writing skills. 
  • Solid editorial judgment along with knowledge of local, national and world news. 
  • High journalistic ethical standards. 
  • Understand the need for urgency and accuracy. 
  • Can multi-task and work under pressure, especially in breaking news situations. 
  • Must have a passion for news and competitive winning spirit. 
  • Willing to take risks in the name of creativity in storytelling and presentation. 
  • Understands how to maximize visuals and video editing principles. 
  • Will work well with others and be a good teammate. 
  • Flexibility to work any shift as news is a 24-hour operation.
Education:
  • Degree in broadcast journalism, broadcast news or related field preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum two years of broadcast news experience preferred, preferably as a line producer.
  • Knowledge of ENPS newsroom software is a plus.
  • Experience working with automation production preferred
  • Knowledge of digital platforms and use of social media.
