Job Description

Avalanche, a division of WB Games Inc.is seeking a Motion Capture Technician (temporary) to join our growing team of talented industry veterans.

This person will work closely with the project engineering, art, and design leads to develop high quality motion capture assets for AAA games for Next Generation platforms. They must demonstrate high competency with motion capture systems and pipelines and a true passion for game development. Moreover, will own a variety of post shoot processes and pipelines to deliver high quality data to the animation teams.

The ideal candidate is hard-working, hands-on, self-motivated, process-driven, and customer-oriented. This individual has a passion for working with motion capture technologies and people who help us create magical animations.

The incumbent will be employed by Yoh Staffing and will receive salary and benefits accordingly. 

Your Role Accountabilities…
  • Act as a key player in our motion capture team to deliver high quality animation data
  • Using MotionBuilder and Unreal Engine, support shoots by creating and maintaining real-time scenes
  • Using Vicon Shogun, support the motion capture team by processing data and retargeting for the animation teams
  • Assist the motion capture lead with prep and quality assurance of our real time scenes
  • Support the motion capture team in wardrobe fitting and marker setup of talent
  • Contribute to documenting workflow and pipeline improvements
  • Help support ongoing development of our motion capture tools aimed at pipeline efficiency
Qualifications and Experience…
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Animation or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working on a game project, either as a student or on personal time
  • Proficiency with motion capture technologies, preferably Vicon Shogun.
  • Proficiency with MotionBuilder and Maya with expert knowledge of retargeting and animation
  • Experience with the Unreal Engine and the character animation pipeline
  • On set experience in motion capture for video games or similar fields.
  • Strong problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills
  • Clear, concise, and transparent communicator - both written and verbal
  • Be a self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Ability to self-manage when given prioritized goals and objectives
  • Seek out opportunities to improve technically and professionally
  • A passion for video games and the characters that move in them
The Nice to Haves
  • 1+ years experience with motion capture or a background with animation in video games
  • Understanding of Unreal Engine Blueprints and UE LiveLink
  • Knowledge of human anatomy and human movement
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and/or Maya MEL Scripts
  • Experience working with HMC’s, operating and/or processing videos for facial animation pipelines
