Cumulus Media | Columbia-Jefferson City is offering a rare opportunity as a part-time News Anchor/Board Operator. Who we are: The seven Cumulus Mid-Missouri stations serve Columbia, Jefferson City, Lake of the Ozarks, and all of Mid-Missouri. In the Columbia-Jefferson City market we strive to hire passionate, driven, resourceful, problem solvers who have the ability to drive the evolving, diverse culture of the Power of Radio to success. The cluster of 7 stations reaches thousands of listeners on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research, develop, write, and deliver compelling local news headlines and stories to our listeners.
  • Maintain a high standard for accuracy, integrity, fairness, and honesty related to all content.
  • Anchor afternoon newscasts from 4p-6p M-F, with other shifts as requested by the program director.
  • Provide newsworthy content on KFRU social media platforms.
  • Attend and cover newsworthy events as assigned by the program director.
  • Operate the KFRU control board as needed throughout the week.
  • Monitor and update weather and insert into programming as needed.
  • Monitor and record-breaking news alerts, inserting them into programming as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Strong passion for delivering accurate and compelling local news to our community.
  • Socially informed and perceptive; up-to-date and in tune daily with local trends and/or specialized knowledge of topics/events related to on-air discussions.
  • Pleasant, charismatic, and well-controlled voice; excellent pronunciation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and editing skills; proficient in grammar; ability to make others feel comfortable while on air.
  • Can work well in a team environment; collaborative.
  • Weekend availability is required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is required.
  • Some radio experience is preferred.
  • Audio production skills are preferred.
  • Familiarity with audio mixers is preferred.
