Job Description

NewsNation is currently searching for a full-time Studio Technician for our nationally broadcast shows originating from our Washington DC studio.

Responsibilities:
  • The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of live production elements, specifically news production, and be able to operate live broadcast equipment.
  • Perform functions including, but not limited to: A2, stagehand & robotic camera operation.
  • Must know how to deliver high quality broadcasts, have a passion for journalism and thrive in the technical news production environment. 
  • May be asked to train others or create training documentation.  
  • Must be able to communicate and document effectively and concisely to the rest of the team.
  • All day parts (mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) may be a part of the schedule with overtime as situations and breaking news demand.
Qualifications:
  • Five plus (5+) years’ experience in professional live television broadcast operations required.  
  • Be detail-oriented and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Other engineering/broadcast operations experience in areas of routing, CGs, video playback, wiring & signal flow a plus. 
  • Candidate should be a problem solver and quick thinker to resolve existing issues and to work around problems that arise during live news, be self-sufficient and have a “press-on-regardless” attitude.
  • Must work well in a collaborative team environment.
  • Working knowledge of common business software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field preferred.
  • This position will require shift work which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, along with overtime as situations and breaking news demand.
